Dear Neal Avenue Church Family,
You are probably very aware by now of the seriousness with which the State of Ohio, the CDC and our nation in general are treating the COVID-19 virus. On Thursday afternoon, following decisions announced by the Governor of the State of Ohio, Bishop Palmer strongly encouraged West Ohio United Methodist Churches to refrain from holding worship services for the next two weeks, in order to help slow the spread of the virus and allow medical professionals a more controlled environment in which to treat cases that appear. Accordingly, as a result of our concern for the health of our congregation, members and their families, we will not be meeting for worship on March 15 or March 22. By March 22 we will have some sort of electronic presence for worship in place so that we can continue to worship as a body, though not in person. Additionally, the Cub Scout pack will not be meeting at the church during the time the elementary schools are closed. A large private group gathering has been postponed. The community dinner will be held as a "drive-thru" event, rather than gather in the fellowship hall. Visitations will be done by phone and by mail rather than in person. Additional, the Worship Team is putting some procedures in place to help keep us all safe when we do meet again in worship. At this point, we are not canceling Bible studies, committee meetings, or choir practices, but please feel free to refrain from those if you feel ill or are immuno-compromised, or just feel safer staying at home. Please do contact the church office if there is any way the church can assist you at this time.
Throughout the next week, we will be providing further information as this situation develops. In the meantime, continue to care for each other as you already do (though from a distance!). Your love and care for each other and the community, and God's love for all of us, continues even in uncertain times.

Shalom,
Pastor Em
