About Us

Our History

In January 1905, the Neal Avenue United Methodist Episcopal church was organized. Several Methodists living in the west end of Newark decided it was too much of a hardship, especially in the winter, to go downtown to church.

They first met in homes around the Williams and Maholm Street areas. Eventually they bought a building, and the first service was held there on January 16, 1905. On January 16, 1913, three lots were purchased where our present building is located.
